Run by the Squamish Wind Sports Society (SWS - "The Spit" is the primary spot to ride. During the summer (May to Sept) the area receives steady thermal winds (20 - 25 knts) inflowing up Howe Sound. Wind is onshore at a river mouth providing varied terrain to ride. A world class flat water spot (the honey hole) exists in the lee of the Spit, while wind swell can be found upwind. Low tide exposes several sandbars and there are usually a couple logs in the river to play with. SWS provides a launch area, change rooms, an air compressor to pump up with and retrieval services. When a system develops offshore it will funnel up Howe Sound creating big gusts.

In the winter strong outflow winds of 40 knts are not uncommon but the wind is offshore and the water cold making it for experts only. Local kite schools organize down winders to take advantage of these conditions.
